On account of its dense structure and its hydrophobic behaviour, Thio Material is quasi- impermeable. Consequently the material is also characterized by a very low water-absorption capacity, which is between 0.2 and 0.5%. This is very low if compared with cement concrete, of which the values  between 3 and 8%. The very low absorption capacity additionally protects the material against the penetration of fluids such as water. With a thickness of 1 cm and a pressure of 1 bar the material is watertight. The Thio Tube products and their various compounds meet  the test arrangement according to NBN EN 1916 at 1 bar.
